Privacy Policy

Your recipes, kept private.

Family recipes are personal, and so is the information that comes with them. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. The headline: your collection is private by default, and we never sell your personal information.

Draft for legal review. Bracketed items still need to be confirmed.

1. What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email and password, and your settings.
  • Your collection: the recipes, photos, handwritten cards, stories and notes you add, plus your cookbook designs.
  • Orders: shipping names and addresses, order history and gift messages. Payments are handled by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Your household: the names, allergies, ways of eating and health goals you add for the people you cook for, so recipes can be checked against them. This can include health information, and you choose what to add.
  • Voice: recordings you make of someone telling a recipe (kept with that recipe), and what you ask Sous out loud. Hands-free commands like “next step” are understood on your phone and aren’t recorded.
  • Your questions to Sous: what you ask, and the recipe or plan you’re asking about.
  • Messages and submissions: what you send us through our contact, Share your story and Studio forms.
  • Device and usage information: like your browser, device type and how you use the Service, collected through cookies and similar tools (see section 6).

2. How we use it

  • To run the Service: save and organize your recipes, transcribe cards, build your book preview, and print and ship your orders.
  • To keep you updated: order and shipping emails, account notices and, if you choose, occasional news and ideas (you can unsubscribe anytime).
  • To support you when you contact us.
  • To keep Plated Pages safe, fix problems and make it better.

We don’t use your recipes, photos or stories for advertising, and we don’t sell or rent your personal information.

3. Who helps us

We share information only with trusted partners who help us run Plated Pages, and only what they need:

  • Printing and shipping partners receive your book files and shipping details to print and deliver your order.
  • Payment providers process your payments securely.
  • AI providers. Sous and our recipe tools use outside AI services, and the app asks your permission before using them:
    • Anthropic (Claude) answers your questions to Sous, reads recipes from the photos and links you import, and writes up the recordings you make. It receives what you send and the details needed to answer well, like the recipe you’re asking about and your household’s allergies and goals.
    • OpenAI turns Sous’s replies into its natural spoken voice. It receives only the words Sous is about to say.
Under their business terms, these providers don’t use your information to train their AI models, and keep it only briefly for safety checks. [Confirm current retention periods with each provider before launch.] You can say no, or switch this off anytime in the app’s Settings (Privacy › Help from AI); measurements still work, and Sous speaks in your phone’s own voice.
  • Hosting, email and analytics services that keep the Service running.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would still protect your information.

4. Private by default

Your collection and cookbooks are only visible to you and anyone you invite. If you share a book’s private link, people with the link can see the book and, if you allow it, add to it. Community stories are only published if you send them to us through our Share your story form.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Download: you can download every recipe you’ve saved, plus a digital PDF of your cookbook, anytime.
  • Correct or delete: edit anything in your account, or delete your account and everything in it. Deletion is permanent.
  • AI help: say no when the app asks, or turn it off anytime in Settings › Privacy › Help from AI.
  • Marketing: unsubscribe from marketing emails with one click. We’ll still send emails about your orders.
  • Depending on where you live (for example California, or the UK and Ireland under GDPR), you may have extra rights, like asking what we hold about you or objecting to certain uses. Contact us and we’ll help, without charging you or treating you differently.

6. Cookies

We use cookies that are essential to make the Service work, like keeping you signed in. With your permission, we also use analytics cookies to understand how people use Plated Pages so we can improve it. When you first visit, we ask for your choice, and you can change it anytime with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We don’t use advertising cookies.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account and collection for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove your content from our live systems within 30 days, and from our secure backups within 90 days. We keep order, payment and tax records for up to 7 years, because the law requires it. Messages you send us are kept for up to 2 years so we can help with follow-up questions.

8. Children

Plated Pages isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. Kids are welcome to cook along and contribute to a family book through a parent or guardian’s account. If you think a child has given us personal information, let us know and we’ll delete it.

9. International users

Plated Pages is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the US. If you use Plated Pages from Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand, we protect your information as described here and use appropriate safeguards for transfers where the law requires. [Lawyer: confirm GDPR transfer mechanism and representative.]

10. Keeping it safe

We use industry-standard security, like encryption in transit and limited staff access, to protect your information. No system is perfect, so if a breach ever affects you, we’ll tell you promptly as the law requires.

11. Changes and contact

If we make important changes to this policy, we’ll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. Questions or privacy requests? Contact us, or write to [Plated Pages legal entity name and mailing address].
